How to Clear Your Spotify Queue

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue

Introduction

Your Spotify queue can fill up fast—especially if you frequently add songs, switch playlists, or use the autoplay feature. Clearing the queue helps you regain control of your listening experience and prevents unwanted tracks from playing.

What You'll Need

• Your phone or computer

• The Spotify app (updated version)

• A stable internet connection

Steps

  1. Open the Spotify app on your device.

  2. Navigate to the Now Playing bar at the bottom and tap or click it to open the full player.

  3. Locate the queue icon (three horizontal lines with a play symbol) and select it.

  4. Review the list of upcoming songs and tap “Clear Queue” if the option is available.

  5. If “Clear Queue” doesn’t appear, manually remove items by swiping left (mobile) or selecting the three dots and choosing “Remove from queue” (desktop).

  6. Close the queue screen and resume listening with your newly cleared queue.

Alternative Methods

• Play a new playlist or album—this automatically replaces your existing queue.

• Turn off Spotify’s autoplay feature to prevent new songs from being added automatically.

• Log out and back in to refresh your session if the queue appears stuck.

What NOT to Do

• Don’t uninstall the app just to clear the queue—this doesn’t always reset it.

• Don’t clear downloaded data unless necessary—it won’t directly remove queue items.

• Don’t assume autoplayed songs mean your queue is broken.

FAQs

Why can’t I find the “Clear Queue” button?

Some versions of Spotify don’t show a global clear option. You may need to remove songs individually.

Does clearing the queue delete my playlists?

No—your playlists remain unchanged. Only the upcoming songs list is affected.

Why does my queue fill up again automatically?

Spotify’s autoplay feature adds similar music after your playlist ends. You can turn this off in Settings.
